"The college application process can be daunting: the essay, the supplements, the resumes, teacher recommendations and figuring out where you’d like to spend the next four years of your life. Yikes. At first, I tried to approach this process singlehandedly. It was overwhelming to say the least. My mother and I went to another college advisor in town; it was extremely impersonal. That advisor said that I didn’t have a strong enough application to get into many of the schools I was interested in, including my dream school: Cornell University. The advisor shut down my hopes and dreams in a sense.

Admissions Advocates was my savior. We were able to take my personal strengths and academic ability and create a list of schools where I would thrive. 

The next step was the essay. Before I started writing, I had some topics I wanted to explore, but I wasn't sure which one to pick. Anne Marie helped me choose the topic that would best show-off my personality and energy. Before I began, she helped me outline the whole essay. Starting with the introduction, we picked out specific life details that would best exhibit my story and also grab the attention of the college admissions officers. She helped me turn my blank page into a well thought-out story that highlighted my best traits while showing off my knowledge of my essay topic. My mother was so proud, she insisted on showing it off to multiple family members and family friends. I still find her bragging about it. No joke.
